The National Institutes of Health indicates that eating plans of 1,500 calories for men, and 1,200 calories for women, are safe and effective in achieving weight loss. To align with these guidelines MyFitnessPal has implemented a separate calorie minimum for males of 1,500 calories per day.
How do you count calories on MyFitnessPal?
Does MyFitnessPal calculate calories correctly?
Calorie Counts Aren’t Accurate
Even if your calculated basal needs were 100% accurate, the calories listed on food aren’t. Food companies are allowed to use any one of five different methods to calculate nutrition facts, and permits inaccuracies of up to +/- 20%.
How does MyFitnessPal calculate calories from Steps?
Currently, there is not a way to convert your step count into calories burned, unless you have integrated your MyFitnessPal account with one of our integration partners. Many of these partners can automatically log your burned calories based on your amount of walking or other exercise.
